Register now for BHF & Wits Business School Trustee Development Programme

With governance being key in solving some of the challenges that our country is facing at the moment, it is imperative to keep abreast of governance trends and skills required of the Board of Director. Medical scheme stakeholders are urged to register for the NQF level 07 accredited Trustee Development Programme presented by the Board of Healthcare Funders of Southern Africa in partnership with the Wits Business School.
Interested trustee and professionals have less than 40 days before the start of the NQF level 07 accredited BHF & Wits Business School Trustee Development Programme which is open to all in the SADC region. A graduation ceremony will be held at the 20th Annual BHF Southern African Conference at the Cape Town International Convention Centre in Cape Town on the 22nd July 2019.
BHF Head: Stakeholder Relations & Communications, Zola Mtshiya said the programme was aimed at medical scheme trustees, professionals working in the healthcare environment and principal officers of medical schemes who wanted to upskill themselves.
“This is an exciting opportunity for professional to raise their knowledge of governing medical schemes to another level,” said Mtshiya.
Mtshiya said the course was designed to equip students with tools and strategies on how to improve the health status of medical scheme members; the roles and responsibilities of trustees; ethical leadership; environment of business landscape; the law relating to medical schemes; history of medical schemes; fraud, waste & abuse; health finance; health governance; principles and practice of governance: King IV practices.
The programme has two intakes per year in March and in September. The March four-day programme takes place on the following dates: 18th to 19th March 2019, 20th and 22nd March 2019 with exams taking place on 25 March 2019 with an option to travel back to South Africa and write on 08 April 2019.
The September 2019 intake will take place on the 16th to 19th September 2019, with exams taking take place on 23 September 2019 with an option to travel back to South Africa and write on 14 October 2019.
“In an ever-changing environment, trustees are increasingly required to demonstrate how they govern medical schemes and keep their defined knowledge up to date,” said Mtshiya
The programme will be held at Wits Business School, Parktown, Johannesburg. BHF is offering one complimentary registration to member scheme trustee, additional members seeking to register, may do so at a cost of R15 500 (including VAT).
