Dr Ayanda Mbuli

Dr Ayanda Mbuli is the Chief Executive Officer of Private Health Administrators (PHA). She obtained her medical degree from Stellenbosch University and has clinical experience in both the public and private healthcare sectors. She also holds a postgraduate qualification in Health Economics from the University of Cape Town, as well as a postgraduate qualification in Business Administration and General Management from GIBS.

Her career spans clinical practice, the pharmaceutical industry, and senior healthcare leadership. She has worked for a global pharmaceutical company with a portfolio in oncology and haematology and has held senior management roles at both Discovery Health and Afrocentric.

Dr Mbuli serves as a Director and EXCO member of the Pharmaceutical and Technology Clinical Management Association (PTCMA), a non-profit organisation dedicated to advancing clinically relevant, evidence-based practice to support optimal patient care and access to affordable medicine and technology through continuous professional development and healthcare education. She is also a Non-Executive Director of the Board of Healthcare Funders (BHF).

A respected voice in the healthcare sector, Dr Mbuli has featured in radio and print interviews on key health issues, presented at industry conferences, and participated in multiple roundtables and expert panel discussions. In recognition of her contribution to healthcare, she was named a recipient of the Mail & Guardian Power of Women 2024 and was a finalist in the Forty Under 40 South Africa 2025 awards.
