Chris Vorster holds an MBChB, FC Path (SA) Chem and an MBA. He was appointed as the Director of the Centre for Human Metabolomics at North-West University in 2010, where he subsequently established the National Metabolomics Platform. Under his leadership, comprehensive metabolic testing, newborn screening and metabolomics services were established that are utilised nationally for diagnostic and research purposes. In 2023 he was seconded to the DIMPLOMCS Nngwe programme, an initiative to diagnose undiagnosed rare disease patients through locally provided genomics, proteomics and metabolomics services. In this capacity he drives the establishment of knowledge, capacity and infrastructure that will enable future diagnostic and research applications.
