Professor Bonang Mohale is a distinguished South African leader, serving as Chancellor of the University of the Free State and Chairperson of Bidvest Group Limited, ArcelorMittal South Africa, Swiss Re Corporate Solutions Africa and SBV Services. He is a Professor of Practice at Johannesburg Business School and the former President of Business Unity South Africa (BUSA). 

He was appointed Sherpa of the Values 20 (V20), a global community formed during Saudi Arabia’s 2020 G20 presidency. The V20 is dedicated to promoting values-based, human-centred public policy proposals for the G20, aiming to enhance well-being and sustainability. 

He is a member of the World Economic Forum’s Community of Chairpersons and the acclaimed author of two bestselling books, Lift as You Rise and Behold the Turtle. His contributions to business and society have earned him several prestigious awards, including the Presidential Award (2001) for economic empowerment, the African Union’s Lifetime Achievement Award (2024) and the 9th Diamond Award in Global Educational Leadership (USA). 

In 2024, he also received the SIOPSA Special Presidential Business Leadership Award and the ME-Vision Academy Award for exemplary leadership and mentorship. Recognised internationally for his integrity and influence, he was included in the 2023 Reputation Poll International list of the ‘100 Most Reputable Africans’.
