Hospice Palliative Care Association (HPCA)
The Hospice Palliative Care Association (HPCA) is an Association of member organisations that provide Palliative Care services in all 9 provinces in South Africa. More than 90% of the patients that are treated by HPCA’s members are cared for at home. HPCA’s vision is “Quality Palliative Care for All”. Our mission is, “To promote quality in life, dignity in death and support in bereavement to all living with a life-threatening illness by supporting member and partner organisations”. HPCA has 90 members, located in all of South Africa’s 9 provinces. In 2022, HPCA members conducted 516,457 home-based care visits and contributed 23,965 additional beds to the S.A. healthcare system through their home-based care programmes. HPCA supports our members through the provision and maintenance of HPCA’s Standards for Palliative Healthcare Services. We also provide education and training, mentorship, advocacy and marketing, monitoring and evaluation as well as reporting and quality assurance services. Visit www.hpca.co.za for more information.
