Seasoned with over ten (10) years’ experience in the field of Competition Economics, Business and Economic Regulation, Mapato Ramokgopa holds a B Com Honors Degree in Economics and Business Management, M Com Degree in Financial Management Science and an MSc Degree in Public Health. She has also expanded her skills and knowledge with a Certificate in Systematic Review of Health Economic Evaluations and is currently a candidate student for Doctoral Studies in Global Health/Health Economics with University of Stellenbosch.

She is currently employed by the Competition-Commission South Africa as an Economist and an executive manager in the Market Conduct Division, responsible for coordinating strategic and special projects, investigations, and market inquiries into key sectors of the economy including the health sector. She also served as a senior member of the Health Market Inquiry technical team, completed in 2019 with recommendations to transform the private health sector.
